Founding Story

EMS, LLC was founded when our resident Emergency Medicine doctor, Nicholas Genthe M.D., refused to accept the current standard training of “count to 6 seconds in your head” and “squeeze the BVM about 1/3 of the way” as good enough -  especially when the data so strongly suggested that it wasn’t.According to an abundance of research, there is a widespread issue with inadequate ventilation due to respiratory rate and tidal volume delivery. He brought the problem to our engineering team and we quickly began designing a robust solution. We knew it had to be simple, intuitive, and cost-effective in order to be widely adopted and make a real difference.  After countless iterations and breakthroughs, we are proud to present the patented device, coined ‘VentAssure’. The VentAssure controls for tidal volume and respiratory rate, essentially transforming the traditional Bag Valve Mask into a portable ventilator.

VentAssure

Our patent pending invention, the VentAssure, drastically :

  • Improves precision of tidal volumes delivered

  • Improves precision of respiratory rate delivered

  • Reduces over-pressurizing risks

  • Reduces gastric insufflation risk

VentAssure enables cognitive offload. The first responder can deliver ventilation conforming to the American Heart Association (AHA) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) standards, with drastically reduced likelihood of harming the patient.

Safer ventilation results in reduced ICU bed days, better patient outcomes, and overall system cost savings.

The novel VentAssure device transforms standard resuscitations. Attaching directly to the world-wide standard of care, the Bag Valve Mask (BVM), the VentAssure provides tactile and visual feedback to the healthcare professional to guide improved ventilation. The VentAssure informs the healthcare provider of timing and volume, helping to administer a consistent, prescribed, respiratory rate and tidal volume.

The result is drastically reduced risk of dangerous ventilation, such as over-pressuring the patient’s lungs, hyperventilating, and limiting venous return.
